Barnabas	Supported Living

At Diverse Abilities Plus, people are supported to be as independent as possible and encouraged to enjoy their lives to the full.

Barnabas

At Barnabas, there is an opportunity for adults who have physical and/or learning disabilities to meet together during the day, perhaps engaging in leisure or project activities together, socialising or learning new skills that will encourage independence.

Supported Living

Within Supported Living there are currently 30 plus people being supported in 17 different locations.  Many of these receive support right around the clock.

Values

The values that are encouraged in all adult services are those of dignity, respect, choice, responsibility and community. Diverse Abilities Plus believes it has a duty to provide services and support in a person-centred way and seeks to discover what the needs and wants of people are, and to meet them wherever possible. We believe in tailoring services to meet individual need.

Funding

At present, funding for services is received from a number of different streams; from individuals and from local authorities. Increasingly, it is likely that there may be a greater emphasis on individuals holding their own budgets. Service providers like ourselves will need to ensure that they are providing what people want to purchase; we welcome that change and seek now to respond to individuals in a person-centred and specifically-tailored way.
