Leave a Gift in Your Will

A gift in your will can provide a gift for life....

Your gift can help a local child with profound and complex disabilities have a future of support throughout their life.

It will mean they can have short nreaks or overnight stays at our respite house and be assisted by our home support team.  On leaving school at 19 they can move into one of our specially adapted bungalows, where they can live independently and be helped by our dedicated supported living team 24/7.

They will have the opportunity to go to our day opportunities centre, meet new friends and enjoy a wide variety of activities.  Their family will be supported as our range of services are designed to help the whole family.

The breadth and diversity of our work is enormous, as is the competition for funding.  A gift in your will is a vital source of funding for us and will provide a life-line for the future.

Leaving Diverse Abilities Plus a gift in your will, a legacy as it is sometimes called, is one of the best ways that you can secure a better future for people with disabilities of all ages and their families.

What Your Gift Could Fund

£500

Is enough to purchase important life saving equipment.

£2,000

Could buy essential mobility equipment to improve the well-being of adults with disabilities.

£18,000

Could fund a years supply of music therapy, helping unlock children's communication and enabling them to express themselves.

£50,000

Could pay for a fully adapted and equipped minibus to enable children and adults to enjoy experiences in the community.

£100,000

Is enough to provide a full year of holiday and after school activities for children with physical and learning difficulties.

Incredible gifts exceeding these would enable Diverse Abilities Plus to expand its services to support even more local people with disabilities.

You can choose where you would like your legacy to be spent or let us choose the area in greatest need at the time.

How to Include a Gift to Diverse Abilities Plus in Your Will

It is only by making a will that you can be sure a friend, relative, organisation or charity will receive the bequest that you would like them to.

What are the different gifts to consider?

1

Residuary - this is the remainder (or part of the remainder) of your estate once outgoings have been dealt with and all other gifts to family and friends have been distributed.  This is a particularly popular way to leave a gift to charity as the gift increases in line with inflation

2

Pecuniary - a pecuniary gift in a legacy is a fixed sum of money.  These do decrease in value over time and therefore ideally may need to be reviewed periodically

3

Specific - a specific gift left to charity in a Will can range from a building to jewellery, a painting and even stocks and shares

It’s also worth remembering that there are tax benefits to remembering a charity in your will.

A codicil drawn up by your legal advisor is the simplest way to make a minor change or addition to your will.

Making your will or making a codicil to your current will are important decisions and we would advise you to consult your solicitor so as to receive reliable professional and up-to-date advice.

For those left behind, funeral flowers are a way of commemorating loved ones, but more often people now choose a charity to benefit from a collection.  If you nominate Diverse Abilities Plus we will ensure that the kind donation will be spent wisely to deliver our vital services and support.

We promise that your legacy will be spent wisely and that it will make a genuine difference to the people we support.
