Langside awarded Specialist Status

Langside School is now nationally recognised as a specialist school in the provision of sensory and physical special needs education. This was the successful culmination of 6 months work leading up to our application to the then DfES in March 2007. Congratulations to all our staff who contributed to the application and the subsequent assessment visit.

Our new status opens up additional funding to develop our provision further, and will also enable us to introduce a new larger sensory theatre and to enlarge the hydrotherapy pool this year.

This award also means that our work with the Montacute Trust Group to develop closer working with Montacute School, which also has Specialist School Status in the complementary area of Cognition and Learning, will lead to an enhanced provision of special needs education in the Poole area.
